요한3서, 그리스도인의 교회 생활

[본문] 요한3서
신약성경에서 가장 짧은 책인 요한3서는 고린도후서 다음으로 우리가 가장 소홀히 대하기 쉬운 책입니다.
딤후2:22
22또한 청년의 정욕을 피하고 오직 순수한 마음으로 [주]를 부르는 자들과 함께 의와 믿음과 사랑과 화평을 따르라.
22Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
딤전6:5
5또 마음이 부패하고 진리가 없어 이득이 하나님을 따르는 것이라고 생각하는 사람들의 비뚤어진 언쟁이 생기나니 너는 그러한 자들로부터 떠나라.
5Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
고전15:33
33속지 말라. 악한 사귐은 선한 습성을 부패시키느니라.
33Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
이 서신은 그리스도인의 교회 생활을 보여줍니다. 비성경적 교제의 위험은 늘 우리 주변에 있습니다 (고전15:33). 주님의 몸 된 교회에 분열이 있어서는 안 되지만 주님께 복종하지 않는 사람들 간에 많은 분열이 있습니다.
이 서신에서 네 인물을 통해 우리의 모습을 살펴봅니다.
1. 요한: 사랑이 많은 형제
- 사랑하는 사람 (1, 2, 5, 11절)
1장로는 극진히 사랑하는 가이오 곧 내가 진리 안에서 사랑하는 자에게 편지하노라.
1The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
2사랑하는 자여, 무엇보다도 네 혼이 형통하는 것같이 네가 형통하고 건강하기를 내가 바라노라.
2Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
5사랑하는 자여, 네가 형제들에게나 낯선 자들에게나 무엇을 행하든지 신실하게 행하니
5Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;
11사랑하는 자여, 악한 것을 따르지 말고 선한 것을 따르라. 선을 행하는 자는 [하나님]께 속하였으나 악을 행하는 자는 [하나님]을 보지 못하였느니라.
11Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
- 기도하는 사람(2절)
2사랑하는 자여, 무엇보다도 네 혼이 형통하는 것같이 네가 형통하고 건강하기를 내가 바라노라.
2Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
- 기뻐하는 사람(3~4절)
3형제들이 와서 네가 진리 안에서 걷는 그대로 네 속에 있는 진리에 대해 증언하였으므로 내가 크게 기뻐하였노라.
3For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.
4내게는 내 자녀들이 진리 안에서 걷는다는 것을 듣는 것보다 더 큰 기쁨이 없도다.
4I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
- 하나님의 일꾼들과 교제하는 사람 (5~8절)
5사랑하는 자여, 네가 형제들에게나 낯선 자들에게나 무엇을 행하든지 신실하게 행하니
5Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;
6그들이 교회 앞에서 네 사랑을 증언하였느니라. 네가 하나님께 속한 방법대로 그들의 여행을 후원하면 잘하리라.
6Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:
7그들은 그분의 이름을 위해 나아가면서 이방인들에게 아무것도 받지 아니하였느니라.
7Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
8그러므로 우리가 진리를 위한 동료 조력자가 되기 위해 그런 자들을 받아들이는 것이 마땅하니라.
8We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.
- 모든 종류의 교만에 반대하는 사람 (10절)
10그러므로 내가 가면 그가 행하는 행위들을 기억하리라. 그가 악한 말들로 우리를 헐뜯고도 그것으로 만족하지 아니하며 자신도 형제들을 받아들이지 아니하고 받아들이고자 하는 자들도 금하여 그들을 교회에서 내쫓는도다.
10Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth [them] out of the church.
- 성도들에게 상담해 주는 사람 (11절)
사랑하는 자여, 악한 것을 따르지 말고 선한 것을 따르라. 선을 행하는 자는 [하나님]께 속하였으나 악을 행하는 자는 [하나님]을 보지 못하였느니라.
11Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
2. 가이오: 행동하는 형제
- 사도에게 사랑받는 사람 (1절)
1장로는 극진히 사랑하는 가이오 곧 내가 진리 안에서 사랑하는 자에게 편지하노라.

- 진리를 실천하는 사람 (3~4절)
3형제들이 와서 네가 진리 안에서 걷는 그대로 네 속에 있는 진리에 대해 증언하였으므로 내가 크게 기뻐하였노라.

4내게는 내 자녀들이 진리 안에서 걷는다는 것을 듣는 것보다 더 큰 기쁨이 없도다.

- 신실한 일꾼 (5절)
5사랑하는 자여, 네가 형제들에게나 낯선 자들에게나 무엇을 행하든지 신실하게 행하니

- 주는 삶을 사는 사람 (6절)
6그들이 교회 앞에서 네 사랑을 증언하였느니라. 네가 하나님께 속한 방법대로 그들의 여행을 후원하면 잘하리라.

- 선교사들을 돕는 사람 (6~8절)
6그들이 교회 앞에서 네 사랑을 증언하였느니라. 네가 하나님께 속한 방법대로 그들의 여행을 후원하면 잘하리라.

7그들은 그분의 이름을 위해 나아가면서 이방인들에게 아무것도 받지 아니하였느니라.
7Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
8그러므로 우리가 진리를 위한 동료 조력자가 되기 위해 그런 자들을 받아들이는 것이 마땅하니라.
8We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.
3. 디오드레베: 교만한 형제
- 하나님의 백성 위에 군림하거나 권위를 행사하려는 이기적 욕망을 지닌 사람 (9절)
9내가 교회에 썼으나 그들 가운데 으뜸이 되기를 좋아하는 디오드레베가 우리를 받아들이지 아니하니
9I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
- 하나님이 임명하신 교회의 감독을 무시하는 사람 (9절)
9내가 교회에 썼으나 그들 가운데 으뜸이 되기를 좋아하는 디오드레베가 우리를 받아들이지 아니하니
9I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
- 죄악된 행실을 보이는 사람 (10절)
10그러므로 내가 가면 그가 행하는 행위들을 기억하리라. 그가 악한 말들로 우리를 헐뜯고도 그것으로 만족하지 아니하며 자신도 형제들을 받아들이지 아니하고 받아들이고자 하는 자들도 금하여 그들을 교회에서 내쫓는도다.

4. 데메드리오: 인정받는 형제
- 사람들과 하나님으로부터 좋은 평판을 얻는 사람 (12절)
12데메드리오는 모든 사람에게서와 진리 그 자체에게서 좋은 평판을 받았고 참으로 우리도 증언하노니 너희는 우리의 증언이 참된 줄 아느니라.
12Demetrius hath good report of all [men], and of the truth itself: yea, and we [also] bear record; and ye know that our record is true.
- 사역을 위임 받은 선교사 (12절)
12데메드리오는 모든 사람에게서와 진리 그 자체에게서 좋은 평판을 받았고 참으로 우리도 증언하노니 너희는 우리의 증언이 참된 줄 아느니라.
12Demetrius hath good report of all [men], and of the truth itself: yea, and we [also] bear record; and ye know that our record is true.
